Is Brighton Beach The Worst Beach In Barbados?

Since my first visit to Barbados in 2005 I have been to many beautiful beaches on both the Atlantic and Caribbean sides of the Island. Yesterday was my first visit to Brighton beach, which is on the West Coast of the Island and lies on the Caribbean Sea.

I had heard all about Brighton beach in Barbados being a great beach and that it is a firm favourite with many of the local’s. We parked the car near where the two pipes that lead out into the Caribbean Sea, just along from the Malibu factory.

As soon as we made it to the sands and the sea, I was hugely disappointed, and my first impression was what the heck is this place, it was my idea of hell. On one side you have a multitude of factories, and the smell of Malibu coming out of their factory and I cant stand the smell, but my wife who loves Malibu loved the smell. Also the view out into the sea wasn’t to my liking, I hated seeing those cranes at the port and those big orange things in the sea.

The water at Brighton Beach is very calm and there is virtually no under current, in fact I walked out a long, long way until the water reached my belly button. Brighton beach is an exceptionally long stretch of sand, and there is also a lifeguard station on part of the beach. Briton beach is also fairly close to the centre of Bridgetown and it gets real busy at the weekend. I suppose the one good thing about Brighton Beach is the unnaturally warm water, which can be found near where the two factory pipes that lead out to sea.

Brighton beach is seemingly a favourite place for locals, but for me I found it a huge disappointment. I would be hard pressed to find anything that I liked about this beach. The scenery was as bad as it gets, both looking out to the sea and looking behind at all those factories and the stench in the air, all transpired to put me off Brighton Beach. I also found the warm waters around the stretch of sea close to the Malibu a bit disturbing. I was half expecting to wake up this morning with my skin having turned a shade of green or something!

As the saying goes, “what is one man’s paradise, is another man’s hell”, and in this case it is very true. I personally wont be back to Brighton Beach in Barbados in a hurry, it just isn’t my sort of beach, and it doesn’t inspire me. Is Brighton Beach the worst beach in Barbados, it is for me!

Went to Barbados in May for the first time this year. Thought the best thing that could happen to the Island was a hurricane to scour the the whole place out, what a pit!

we went to BB 7 times now and our favourite beach is brightons beach. the pictures u show are not brightons beach, they are further up along malibu beach club and the hot pot which looks a bit different. there are the rum factory and power plant with pipes etc. brightons and brandons are opposite towards the harbour. brandons is in the top3 beaches of BB!

I think you are mistaken, the Hot Pot is actually part of Brighton Beach…
