Hi, I know from the personal experience of my wife that a lightweight wedding dress is the way to go, because it can get very hot during the day in Barbados.

From a guys point of view i would advise on wearing a lightweight cotton shirt and trousers. I personally wore a kilt and the full Scottish Highland wear, and at times during the ceremony and the photo session i thought i was going to die because it was so hot.

I think white works best for the wedding party, i.e white shirts and trousers for the guys and white or light coloured dresses for the girls. I wouldn't dream of wearing white back home in Scotland, but here in Barbados you are after all in the Caribbean where there is a completely different atmosphere and ambiance.

I was recently at a wedding, where the wedding service was held on a beach at 9.30am and even at that time it was unbelievable hot. The bride at this particular wedding bought a beautiful lightweight wedding dress in a sale in Miami for $150usa, and it worked perfectly.

I would say whatever you do decide to wear make sure that it will be comfortable in the heat, because the wedding service and pictures will generally take around 90 minutes. Also make sure you carry plenty of tissues for wiping the sweat off your face, because it does become uncomfortable and it will also spoil the pictures.
