Hooked On The Red Stuff Called Sorrel

I must admit I have developed a real craving for Sorrel Syrup Juice since I moved to Barbados all those many months ago. It has such a unique and delicious taste that I cant seem to live without it.

It is such a quick and easy drink to make, a wee drop of sorrel concentrate, some water and of course some ice, all in a large glass. It is a perfect thirst quencher, which I must have on a daily basis.

I know there are many purists out there that will moan at me for not taking the time and effort to make the real thing from the plant, which I will have to do one of these days.

From what I have heard the real Sorrel drink tastes out of this world, I cant believe I haven’t tasted it yet. My family members are letting this Scotsman down; maybe it tastes so good they don’t want to share it with me.

Yes it is basically a delicious tasting juice, that I must admit I hadn’t even heard of until I came to live in Barbados. It sure has a unique taste….

I have tasted the syrup and it isn’t too bad, but the real sorrel is even better. Maybe you could make it and put the recipe on here.

You can also make tea from dried sorrel… it is very popular in Poland and we call it hibiscus… I know, it has nothing to do with hibiscus flower, but for some reason that is how it is called:
