Hairy Woman At Carlisle Bay, Ban Them All!

I was chilling out and having breakfast at Carlisle Bay early this morning before I went to the post office in Bridgetown to collect some packages. I couldn’t believe what I was watching coming out of the water, at first glance I thought it was a couple of Chimpanzees. In fact I thought I was having some sort of weird nightmare.

Unfortunately I wasn’t dreaming it was actually two real hairy woman, they were both of European decent and had dark hair. Lets just say the horrible sight of their dark long hairy legs and the long hairs under their armpits and it got even worse you could see the hairs coming out of there noses, it was the worst sight I have ever witnessed at any beach in Barbados.

I wish I had never seen them, but they walked right past me right in my line of vision. Luckily I had just finished my breakfast or I wouldn’t have been able to eat  it.

I think David Thomson PM needs to start taking his job more seriously and ban woman like that from all beaches in Barbados. Lets get some signs erected at all popular beaches, “ALL HAIRY WOMAN BANNED”. It needs to be done before these hairy ugly and smelly women start scaring off the tourists. I swear there were young children running for there life’s, when they saw them hairy woman walking out of the  beautiful clear blue Caribbean Sea.

It is the 21st century, we are living in a civilised society, there are places for woman like that and they are called zoos and circuses. When hairy woman go out they should cover up their hairy body parts from the public.

Before all you hairy woman get on your high horse and all you crazy wackjobs that find hairy woman appealing, I personally groom myself on a regular basis, because I like to look and feel good. I shave daily and always apply a wee drop of Hugo Boss so that I smell sweet, I trim my eyebrows on a regular basis, I keep the hair on my head neat and tidy, I shave unsightly hair from my back and trim the chest hairs when they get too long. It takes a bit of time and effort but the rewards are worth it, I feel good and I have a fantastically good-looking wife.

Hairy woman don’t be so lazy and sort yourselves out, you are a disgrace to 21st century woman. All it takes is a bit of time and effort and you will be looking and feeling a lot better. Unless you haven’t noticed we are not living in the stone age era anymore! JUST DO IT!

A Nice Wee Spot For My Lunch

I had a busy morning today and needed to chill out for an hour, so I decided to have lunch at the beach. After yesterday’s crap lunch in Bridgetown at the Bump and Wine Cafe,  I decided to take no chances and grabbed a delicious fully loaded sub way type sandwich from the supermarket, for only 7.99BDS and believe me it tasted absolutely delicious and a bottle of Mountain Dew cherry flavour, which also tasted delicious, I just wish I bought two bottles of the stuff.

It doesn’t really matter where I am in Barbados, if I suddenly decide I want to have lunch at a fantastic beach, I’m always only  a short drive away. I truly love that about Barbados, and for me it is one of the best perks about living on this island.

Today it was Carlisle Bay and tomorrow who knows where it will be, but it will somewhere as equally as pretty and inviting. If only I had taken a pair of shorts and towel with me I could have had a badly needed dip in the sea. I think from now on I will keep a pair of swimming shorts and a towel in the boot of my car for days like today.

At Home By the Sea

I have lived fairly close to the Sea all of my life, before I moved to Barbados, my home city and place of birth was Aberdeen, which is in Scotland. Back home in Aberdeen I was never more than 30 minutes drive from the dark blue freezing cold and at times wild North Sea. The Atlantic Ocean was a wee bit further away, perhaps a 4.5 hour drive away.

Now that I’m living in Barbados I live about 5 minutes drive from the warm blue and ever so inviting waters of the Caribbean Sea and about 20 minutes drive from the cooler Atlantic Ocean.

As most people can imagine there is huge difference between the weather back home in Scotland and in Barbados. In Scotland most of my time at the beach was spent fully clothed watching the sea and walking along the miles upon miles of sands. In Barbados it is the opposite I usually have a pair of shorts on and am in the water relaxing, swimming, or boogie boarding.

I spent many a happy hour by the sands of the North Sea, whether it was walking along the Aberdeen Beach Promenade or walking along the sand dunes and miles of golden sands at Balmadie Beach. Many a fine hour of rest, relaxation and exercise were spent by the sea in Aberdeen. Some days the sun would be shinning and there would be a gentle breeze, other days it would be freezing cold with bitter a wind that would go right through you, if you never had the proper clothes on.

In Barbados I have also spent many a fine hour of rest, relaxation and exercise by the Sea. Nothing beats jumping in the car and heading down to the Caribbean Sea or over to the Atlantic Ocean and spending a few hours having fun and forgetting about real life. Usually the sun is shining bright when I go to the beach in Barbados, but on days when there is storm passing it is still an wondrous site sitting in the car watching it pass by.

I feel at home by the sea and cannot ever imagine myself living anywhere that isn’t close to a sea, I just couldn’t live in such a place. Spending time at the beach and by the sea is something that I will always look forward too.

In my time so far I have visited the Caribbean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the Mediterranean Sea and the Pacific Ocean and I have equally enjoyed them all and there unique beauty.

I Ain’t Missing the Weather In Scotland At All

This picture is for the benefit of all my friend’s and family members back home in Aberdeen in Scotland. I sure aint missing the weather back home at all. I have just looked at the forecast for the forthcoming weekend and there will be heavy snow showers and it will hit below 0 degrees in Aberdeen, it is bringing me out in a cold sweat thinking about it.

I know what I will be doing this weekend and it doesn’t entail shivering from the cold or falling on my ass when I slip and fall on some slippery patch of ice. I will be heading to the beach to get some warm Bajan sun and the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea on my skin.

Friends, family members and anybody that knows me, take a good look at the picture at the top of this page that is where I will be at the weekend. Come and join me!

I Suppose It Could Be Called a Secret Barbados Beach

During my wonderful recent break at a Hotel on St Lawrence Gap, I was staying at a hotel that had a nice wee beach all of it’s own. As most people are aware there are no private beaches in Barbados, but the beach at the hotel was kind of hard to get too if you were not staying there. In fact I would hazard a guess and go as far as saying if you were not staying at the hotel you would probably not even be aware that there was a beach there.

Even though the hotel was fairly busy during my 10-night stay, you would very rarely find people on the beach or even enjoying the beautiful Caribbean Sea. In fact the most people I seen in the sea at this beautiful wee beach at the hotel was 5 people. I know for people that go to places like Majorca, Ibiza, Crete, Nice etc this is something that is very hard to believe, but believe me it’s true.

I suppose this beach could be called a secret beach, because you will not see it from the road or anywhere else apart from if you stay at the hotel. The name of the hotel, I wish I could tell the world, but a secret is a secret and I’m not going to give the game away.

I for one will be staying at the hotel on a fairly regular basis, there is nothing quite like getting in the car and driving for 30 minutes and going to stay at a nice hotel overlooking the amazing and beautiful Caribbean Sea. Before I moved to Barbados, having a wee break like this is something I would have never anticipated doing. But now I say to myself, why the hell shouldn’t I go and get a deserved break, without the hassles of travelling for hours to get somewhere.

I guess if you want to know where the secret beach is and I suppose I could say the not so secret hotel, because it sits on St Lawrence Gap somewhere, all you have to do is seek and ye shall find!

The Pirates Great Escape From Slavery At Carlisle Bay In Barbados

As I sat on the sands of Carlisle Bay relaxing and taking things easy looking out at the sailboats moored in the Bay, I pictured the famous Scottish Pirate Red Legs Greaves as he swam out to a ship to escape his slave masters in Barbados.

I thought about having a wee swim out to the sail boats to follow in the footsteps of Red Legs but It was too hot for me and I would have ran out of energy long before I reached the safety of one of the moored boats.

I contented myself with imaging his desperate escape bid as he sought his freedom on ship that was leaving Barbados and the beginning of a new highly profitable and successful career as a buccaneer in the Caribbean during the 1670′s. I will at some point be doing a article about the life and times of Red Legs Greaves, when I have completed my research.

Nowadays Carlisle Bay is a great beach for relaxing and taking things easy, either sunbathing or enjoying the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. The closest you will get to pirates are the beach hawkers, who are trying to sell you something.

Surfs Up at Rockley Beach In Barbados

I had a business appointment at a fancy hotel in Hastings in Christ Church today, which is just along the road from the Gap and It was good to see the sun shinning so bright after the day of rain we had yesterday.

After my appointment I headed over to Rockley beach, which is also seemingly known as Accra Beach, they love these beaches with two names in Barbados. It seemed like a good Barbados beach to relax and chill out at for a bit. I had been there before on previous trips to Barbados and thought it was an okay sort of beach. I slipped on my t-shirt and beach shoes and headed for a stroll along the sands and for an ice cold Banks Beer before I headed back home.

I have never actually been in the water at Rockley Beach before, and looked with keen interest as I watched a group of budding surfers being given a lesson. I then thought this beach could possible offer some good boogie boarding conditions. I must admit for a south coast beach on the Caribbean Sea, Rockley Beach at times conjured up a few good waves as well as plenty of calm conditions for swimming in.

Rockley or Accra Beach which ever name you prefer is a fairly large pretty beach with the usual golden sands and beautiful clear blue and inviting sea that is such as common sight in Barbados. This beach was one of the busiest beaches I have encountered so far on a weekday on this island, but it wasn’t overly crowded and there was the usual beach pests that you get trying to sell you everything form jewellery, cigarettes and illegal substances. Why can’t they sell something useful like ice cold Banks Beer or something along those lines?

I will be heading to Rockley at some point in the near future for a wee bit of boogie boarding and to chill out, this is a beach that had a good vibe about it.

Another Day and Another Glorious Barbados Beach Called Silver Sands

It was another day in Barbados and the sun was shining as usual on Saturday, and I hadn’t been boogie boarding for what seemed like an eternity. So I so what could I do apart from head to a glorious Barbados beach. As anybody that has ever been here will be very aware that there are countless amazing beaches in Barbados.

The problem, which  I had was what beach was I going to head too, I had heard that there was a good beach called Silver Sands Beach, which is located on the southern tip of Barbados, and which faces the Caribbean Sea. I had a quick look of my map and as anybody that has ever tried to decipher a Barbados map, will know that they are not very good and that the road signs if you can find any are also utter garbage here as well.

Apart a few wrong turns I eventually found my way to Silver Sands Beach, it is found by going down the road just next to the Silver Sands Hotel. I was pleasantly surprised when I got there because there was plenty of parking and there were toilet and shower facilities, which are also welcome after a few hours having fun in the sea.

There were a few locals going about because after all it was the weekend. Seemingly Silver Sands Beach can get fairly busy on a Saturday and especially on a Sunday as it is a very popular beach with the locals, and I can see why, but during the week it is meant to be fairly quiet.

Silver Sands Beach is quite an impressive pretty beach with some sand dunes and picturesque white sands. On my visit there were periodically some rough waves, but nothing that you would class as dangerous. It was a fairly sedate boogie boarding session, but never the less it was fun. Silver Sands Beach would be ideal for children and those that want to take things easy.

It is after all rainy season and you guessed it, the rains came on for a wee bit, but does it really matter when you are having fun in the water. I laughed as I watched an English couple running for their lives when the warm rain poured down, it was a strange site as they had there swimming gear on at the time.

During the winter months that run from mid November to the end of June, Barbados Silversands Beach is seemingly a fairly good windsurfing location. Because it is when the cooling trade winds blow with high a high frequency. I will look forward to the bigger waves that they will bring, as much as I like boogie boarding on the Atlantic Side of the Island, the sea in my mind is noticeable warmer on the Caribbean side.

Silver Sands Beach is a beach that is very much worth visiting, and I shall be returning again during the coming week when it will be nice and very quite.

Miami Beach Is In Barbados, It Really Is!

It was all aboard as my wife’s cousin’s truck on Sunday, as we jumped on the back of it to head to the beach. We were off to Miami Beach which is also known as Enterprise Beach, I know its kind of confusing, a beach with two names!

For me the name Miami Beach conjures images of CSI Miami to my mind, high-rise hotels and beaches full of model like people. Before we left to go to the beach, I was contemplating taking my roller blades with me; I was after all heading to Miami Beach, Florida, sorry I meant to say Miami Beach, Barbados.

Fortunately the drive to Miami Beach only took about 10 minutes from our house, because sitting on the back of that truck, driving over the bumpy roads of Barbados, sure as hell isn’t good for my bum.

Miami Beach I can only imagine was given this name in honour of it’s namesake in Florida, how they compare I cannot say because, I haven’t been to Miami yet. I will at some point in the not too distant future be having a trip to Florida, and this time I will be visiting Miami, I will write all about that when the time comes.

I was hopeful that Miami Beach would be my kind of beach, after the disappointment of my trip to Brighton Beach the previous week. I needn’t have worried because Miami Beach, even though it was fairly busy, it never felt crowded. I have been to beaches in Ibiza and Majorca, which are in Spain, and I will tell you, Miami Beach was empty compared to them!

Miami Beach  is located on the South Coast of the Island and is next door to Ostins Fishing Village. It is a large expanse of sand, with very calm water, I don’t think I saw  much of  a wave the 2 hours I was there. Miami Beach is a great place for chilling out in, doing a bit of swimming, fooling around with your family and having a laugh.

There is a life guard on duty at Miami and you can also rent beach chairs, umbrellas and I even saw  someone renting boogie boards, I’m not quite sure what you would do with the boogie boards, you could maybe sunbath on them in the Caribbean Sea, because there is severe shortage of waves.

When our fun at Miami Beach was over, there was shower and toilet facilities to freshen up at. Before we headed home, I couldn’t resist the food bus that was parked in the car park, because I had heard that they made good fish cakes. The rumour was correct, the fish cakes were excellent and there are even picnic tables at Miami Beach. Which makes eating your fish cakes that are of course washed down with the obligatory Banks, a true joyous occasion.

Is Brighton Beach The Worst Beach In Barbados?

Since my first visit to Barbados in 2005 I have been to many beautiful beaches on both the Atlantic and Caribbean sides of the Island. Yesterday was my first visit to Brighton beach, which is on the West Coast of the Island and lies on the Caribbean Sea.

I had heard all about Brighton beach in Barbados being a great beach and that it is a firm favourite with many of the local’s. We parked the car near where the two pipes that lead out into the Caribbean Sea, just along from the Malibu factory.

As soon as we made it to the sands and the sea, I was hugely disappointed, and my first impression was what the heck is this place, it was my idea of hell. On one side you have a multitude of factories, and the smell of Malibu coming out of their factory and I cant stand the smell, but my wife who loves Malibu loved the smell. Also the view out into the sea wasn’t to my liking, I hated seeing those cranes at the port and those big orange things in the sea.

The water at Brighton Beach is very calm and there is virtually no under current, in fact I walked out a long, long way until the water reached my belly button. Brighton beach is an exceptionally long stretch of sand, and there is also a lifeguard station on part of the beach. Briton beach is also fairly close to the centre of Bridgetown and it gets real busy at the weekend. I suppose the one good thing about Brighton Beach is the unnaturally warm water, which can be found near where the two factory pipes that lead out to sea.

Brighton beach is seemingly a favourite place for locals, but for me I found it a huge disappointment. I would be hard pressed to find anything that I liked about this beach. The scenery was as bad as it gets, both looking out to the sea and looking behind at all those factories and the stench in the air, all transpired to put me off Brighton Beach. I also found the warm waters around the stretch of sea close to the Malibu a bit disturbing. I was half expecting to wake up this morning with my skin having turned a shade of green or something!

As the saying goes, “what is one man’s paradise, is another man’s hell”, and in this case it is very true. I personally wont be back to Brighton Beach in Barbados in a hurry, it just isn’t my sort of beach, and it doesn’t inspire me. Is Brighton Beach the worst beach in Barbados, it is for me!
