It Is The Weekend and I’m In The Mood To Party
It is the end of another tough week and a guess what, I’m the mood to party. It is the 21st century and partying isn’t just for the youngsters, it is for anybody that has still got some life left in their body, mind and soul. And I sure as hell can answer a big yes to all three.
I may be a white Scotsman and I sure as hell aint the best dancer in the world, but give me a few glasses of rum and half a dozen banks beers, and probably a few Pina Coladas and I will hopefully be moving a bit better. Well I think I will be!
I have found an interesting video on Bajan Tube that has really put me in the mood to party. All I can say is that it seems as if beautiful Bajan woman of all sizes and I really do mean all sizes can move amazingly well. I don’t think I can express adequately in words what I mean; you will just have to watch it for yourself.
Friday Night At Oistins Fish Fry In Barbados
I took this shot after a Friday night at Oistins Fish Fry here in Barbados and oh boy what a night, the Marlin was delicious, the Carib Lager was ice cold, it was a warm evening and of course my wife was with me, which helped to make it a perfect evening.
If you have never experienced Oistins Fish Fry in Barbados, especially on Friday evening when things get unbelievable busy and the place is absolutely buzzing, you really should make the effort to take it all in and soak up the unique atmosphere.
What I love about Oistins on a Friday night is the amazing atmosphere and the fact that you get a huge mix of locals and tourists all enjoying themselves with the amazing fish and the live music.
In my mind any visitor that comes to Barbados and doesn’t go to Oistins on a Friday night must be out of their minds….also Saturday night at Oistins is quite good for those that can’t handle the Friday night! Saturday Night At Oistins Fish Fry
The Good Girl Gone Bad, Rhianna Sure Has Gone Mad
You know something it hasn’t come as a surprise to me that Rhianna has taken Chris Brown back again. He has obviously said he is sorry and that it won’t happen again, and that he has never done this sort of thing before. Sure he hasn’t!
Let me hazard a guess and say Rhianna isn’t the first girl to have received a beating from I’m so sorry Chris Brown! I will take it one step further and say that it will happen again at some point in the near future to Rhianna at the hands of Chris Brown.
I’m sure the publicists of Rhianna and Brown will be working overtime to make sure the public get some bullshit reason for them getting back together so soon after it happened. I get it Brown has had one anger management class and he is now cured!
I have some wise words for you Rhianna, the only way things will change for you is to get some pride, dump that woman beater and move on before you get seriously hurt. You maybe need to go and talk to the legendary Tina Turner who was beaten on a regular basis for years by her husband, who was always sorry and didn’t mean it!
Rhianna don’t waste any more of your valuable time with a nasty piece of work like Chris Brown, move on. Love doesn’t involve getting beaten to a pulp. In a few weeks time you will have forgotten about him and you will both have found new lovers….
She’s Royal, A Truly Beautiful and Inspiring Song
During my recent trip to London it didn’t take long for me to be missing the warmth, sunshine and beautiful beaches of Barbados and of course the special ambiance of the island, but above all I was missing my wife.
A song that I have frequently heard playing in the bars and rum shops, which I occasionally frequent in Barbados, called “She’s Royal” by Taurrus Riley and for me it is a beautiful, soothing and inspiring song. Which when I heard it in London the other day, made me want to jump on the next plane and rush back to Barbados to be with my wife.
If you haven’t heard this song before you have been missing out on a fantastic song, which for me will become a classic, I personally never get tired of hearing it.
Always treat your woman right, give her the love and the respect she deserves and always be good to her, and you will get it all back in abundance.
Santa Clause Is Coming To Barbados
It is Christmas Eve and Santa Clause is getting ready to embark upon his travels once again. When I was a wee kid growing up in Scotland we were always told that Santa came down the chimney to deliver our Christmas presents. Now that creates one big problem here in Barbados, because we don’t have a chimney. How am I meant to explain to the kid when he asks me how is Santa going to deliver our Christmas presents?
This is my first Christmas spent away from Scotland and the cold and if we were lucky it would be snowing, but such is the huge variation each year in the weather back home, that we unfortunately wouldn’t be guaranteed snow. Which is a shame because I just love it when it snows at Christmas.
The BBC weather forecast is telling me it will be a sunny and warm Christmas day in Barbados, well that will be a new experience for me and one that I will do my best to enjoy! Is it too late to get a flight to Lapland to enjoy the snow and have freezing cold wind rattling my bones!
I have the answer to the dilemma as to how Santa gets into houses in Barbados, he obviously has a special key that opens all the doors here. I better remind the kid that you have to leave a large glass of Mount Gaye rum with coke and ice, along with a nice extra large piece of carrot cake for me, I meant to say for Santa to help him on his travels.
To help you on your way Santa Clause I’m going to feature one of the best Christmas songs of all time courtesy of “the Boss”, Bruce Springsteen, and his version of ” Santa Claus is Coming to Town”
Merry Christmas Everybody All Over the World
Give The Fat Girls a Break
I have just heard the song “I’m Fat, So What!” by Petra Luna and I feel that The Barbados Blog should plug the song for all those ladies with a few extra pounds and voluptuous figures out there that are quite happy with their shapely figures.
I feel this song deserves to be a massive hit; it is as good as anything that I have recently heard in the charts. Maybe he could do a version for skinny woman, I’m Skinny, So What” maybe not, doesn’t quite have the same catchy feel to it.
Here we go for all those big girls out there…………..”I’m Fat, So What!” by Petra Luna
Wake Me Up and Make Me Feel Alive Please
Do you ever have one of those days when you just can’t seem to wake up properly and you just feel totally lacklustre? Well today is one of those days for me, I suppose sleeping in this morning didn’t help and having to get washed, dressed and have breakfast in 15 minutes before the school run didn’t help. The icing on the cake was that the rain was absolutely lashing down this morning when I was the road.
If the weather had been a wee bit better I would have headed over to Foul Bay and had a wee dip in the cooling waters of the Atlantic Ocean, that would have woken me up real good, but that is out of the question.
A couple of cans of Power Max later and some motivational visual realization techniques that I use in emergency situations like this and I seem to be almost back in the land of the living.
My recovery process will be complete any minute now just as soon as I watch a video from one of my favourite bands of all time, The Clash performing “I fought the law and the law won”. I doubt it if many people in the Caribbean are even aware of, or are have even heard of the Clash, but here you go!
Rest, Relaxation and Recuperation For The Wandering Scotsman
It is Sunday and it is still hot and sunny here in Barbados but there is an occasional wee breeze today, which is helping this Scotsman to cope a bit better than yesterday. I have decided to take things real easy and just laze about and chill out listening to music and doing a wee bit of surfing the net.
The toughest thing I plan on doing today is roasting a breadfruit in my back garden, in fact I am a breadfruit roasting virgin, as I have never attempted this highly dangerous task by myself before. Hopefully it will all go according to plan, I have watched it been done before, so know what I’m doing. I hope I can get it to taste, as half as good as it was last time, when the wifes familly roasted one for me. I wrote about that delicious experience that you can read right here, Roasted Bread Fruit Bajan Style, A New But Delicious Experience
A great wee tune that the Wandering Scotsman is going to feature on The Barbados Blog today, which is called “There She Goes Again” and is performed by a English band from Liverpool called The La’s, it is perfect for relaxing to on warm lazy Sunday afternoon. What a fantastic song, it brings back some good memories, I remember lazing by the pool in Ibiza way back in 1989 when I first heard this song and it still sounds as good today.
Taking Things Easy In Barbados
It is Saturday and I’m taking things real easy, I’m just chilling out in my porch and enjoying the early morning warmth drinking some coconut water, which came out of coconut that was still hanging from a tree a few hours ago. If you haven’t tasted fresh coconut water, let me tell you the simple truth, you are missing out on a delicious and one of the healthiest natural drinks that you can find in the entire world.
I wrote all about the beneifts of drinking coconut water and you can read it right here, I Sure Do Love Them Coconuts They Are Delicious!
I have some sweet music blasting out of my PC and I have found one particular old traditional Scottish song that I haven’t heard for many a year blasting out. It is a real sweet song called “Wild Mountain Thyme” also known, as “Will You Go Lassie Go” and it seems to sound magical to me sitting in the warmth of Barbados. The Barbados Blog is featuring a version of “Wild Mountain Thyme that is perfomred by a Scottish band called The Silencers.
Wild Girls Dancing Crazily
It is the weekend and it is time to heat things up at The Barbados Blog and I think I have achieved that big time by featuring a video some delightful Caribbean girls dancing in the way that they only can dance. The girls are dancing in a way, which I have personally never experienced in a club before; I guess I haven’t been going to the right clubs!
The video I’m going to feature today is simply called “Dancehall Gals at Tims”
